Wie Telemak (jetzt 2 Stream) an einem der anspruchsvollsten Live-Streams der Welt beteiligt war

In 2006, long before live streaming was mainstream, Telemak (now 2stream.live) was tapped to make history — with a project so ambitious, most thought it couldn’t be done. The occasion?

Im Jahr 2006, lange bevor Live-Streaming zum Mainstream wurde, wurde Telemak (jetzt 2stream.live ) beauftragt, Geschichte zu schreiben – mit einem so ehrgeizigen Projekt, dass die meisten dachten, es sei nicht umsetzbar.

Der Anlass? Die weltweite Einführung des neuen Dufts Gaultier² von Jean Paul Gaultier – ein Event, das Kunst, Kultur und Technologie in Echtzeit und über alle Kontinente hinweg miteinander verbinden soll .

Das Konzept: Eine künstlerische Kollision zwischen Ost und West

Unter der Regie von David Mileikowsky für Milly Films brachte die Produktion zwei künstlerische Kraftpakete zusammen:

  • Zhang Yimou , legendärer chinesischer Filmemacher, präsentierte live aus Peking Kalligrafie und Poesie
  • Maxim Vengerov , weltberühmter Geiger, trat live in Wiesbaden auf

Jeder Standort war mit drei Kameras ausgestattet , die Live-Videos in beide Richtungen übertrugen. Ein technisches Team im belgischen Zaventem kümmerte sich währenddessen um die Echtzeitbearbeitung aller sechs Feeds und übertrug die endgültige Ausgabe live an 600 VIP-Gäste auf der ganzen Welt .

Der China-Faktor: Eine massive technische Hürde

Ein Livestream aus China war im Jahr 2006 wie ein Drahtseilakt ohne Netz. Es gab keine Partner vor Ort , keine zugängliche Produktionsinfrastruktur und keine Garantie, dass das Internet überhaupt ausgehenden Videoverkehr zulassen würde.

Die Beschaffung von Ausrüstung in Peking war nahezu unmöglich. Von Encodern über Umschalter bis hin zu einfachen Signalkonvertern musste alles importiert werden – oft blind und ohne Ausweichmöglichkeiten vor Ort.

Die größte Herausforderung? Einen stabilen Live-Video-Feed mit hoher Bitrate aus China zu bekommen . Wir haben nicht nur das Signal verstärkt – wir haben Grenzen verschoben.

Christophe Lenaerts: Ruhe im Chaos

Im Mittelpunkt dieses Drahtseilakts stand Christophe Lenaerts , der die technische Seite der Produktion leitete. Ohne sich Fehler leisten zu müssen, konzipierte und implementierte Christophe eine der komplexesten Live-Streaming-Infrastrukturen, die zu dieser Zeit jemals eingesetzt wurden.

Nichts ist ausgefallen. Nichts ist ausgefallen. Der Stream wurde perfekt ausgeführt – eine erstaunliche Leistung angesichts der Bedingungen.

Apple hat es zur Kenntnis genommen

Apple war von der technischen Umsetzung und der Rolle der Technologie so beeindruckt, dass es die gesamte Produktion als Video on Demand auf der Apple-Homepage zeigte . Das Video wurde täglich millionenfach angesehen und wurde zu einer Fallstudie dafür, wie Live-Streaming genutzt werden kann, um einen globalen Markenmoment zu initiieren.

Von Telemak zu 2stream.live

Bei dieser Veranstaltung ging es nicht nur um Düfte. Es ging um Möglichkeiten . Es ging darum zu zeigen, dass Live-Streaming selbst unter den härtesten Bedingungen künstlerisch , global und fehlerfrei sein kann .

Telemak hat es möglich gemacht. Heute steckt dieselbe Pionier-DNA hinter 2stream.live – und wir legen die Messlatte immer noch höher.
